OWF Awards EPC Contract to Ulstein (UK)

Dutch based Offshore Windforce (OWF) has awarded Ulstein Idea Equipment Solutions BV the contract for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of 2 pile gripper frames for the West Duddon Sands wind farm installation project.

The pile gripper frames will be installed on board jack-up units and used to support mono-piles when placed onto the seabed and hammered to their final, fully installed position. At the same time the gripper frames will allow OWF to adjust the inclination angle of the pile during the piling operation.

Ulstein Idea Equipment Solutions have been awarded the EPC contract following a successful concept customisation phase. The company was selected by OWF after submitting the best concept in a competitive tender.

The gripper frames will be delivered in Belfast in May 2013 for final installation onto the two jack-up platforms that will be used for the installation of the offshore wind farm West of Duddon Sands in the Irish Sea, offshore UK.
