Four Nominees Selected for Dutch HME Maritime Innovation Award

The nominees of the Dutch HME Maritime Innovation Award 2012 are Huisman Equipment BV, VOSTA LMG BV, Kranendonk Production Systems BV, and Imtech Marine & Offshore BV. These nominees are selected out of sixteen innovative submissions. The winner will be announced at the Maritime Awards Gala on Thursday 8 November 2012 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

On 14 September 2012 the nominated companies will clarify their new products to a jury. The jury includes leading experts on shipping, shipbuilding, maritime services, offshore, and maritime research. They determine the winner based on a wide-ranging applicability of the product within the maritime sector in the Netherlands, good marketability and sufficient export potential.

Dual Multi-Purpose Tower (DMPT) by Huisman Equipment BV

Huisman Equipment BV is nominated by the jury for the Dual Multi-Purpose Tower (DMPT). The DMPT is a drill tower without the limitations of a traditional drilling rig (closed truss structure) when handling drilling equipment. The drilling process becomes significantly more efficient, safer and easier in logistics.

GREENFORCE Ball Joint by VOSTA LMG BV

VOSTA LMG BV has received a nomination for the development of the GREENFORCE Ball Joint. This is a revolutionary design of a ball joint for the use in floating pipelines behind cutter suction dredgers. The new design reduces costs and reaches several advantages for the environment.

Ship Energy Management System by Imtech Marine & Offshore BV

Imtech Marine & Offshore BV owes the nomination to the intelligent Ship Energy Management System. Through intelligent automation the Ship Energy Management System controls the deployment of hybrid energy sources, without the intervention of the captain. This way it achieves continuously the most optimal, energy-efficient, emission reducing and cost-effective sailing profile.

Pipe Shop by Kranendonk Production Systems BV

Kranendonk Production Systems BV has been nominated for the development of the robotic Pipe Shop. This is the first robot system in the world which automatically joins flanges and tubes. From CAD-drawings to joint tubes, all in a single system.

The HME Maritime Innovation Award is given annually to the most innovative maritime supplier in the Netherlands. During the Maritime Awards Gala several other prizes will also be awarded: the KNVTS Ship of the Year Award, KVNR Shipping Award and the VNSI Wim Timmers Award.
