UK: Subsea Industry Developing Their Businesses for Offshore Wind

Offshore wind industry in the North East UK has been recognized by many companies as one which will play a huge role in the future energy mix. Therefore, the companies from the subsea industry are developing their businesses to follow the benefits of the offshore wind market.

When it comes to supply chain, the region’s leading energy industry is still oil and gas, but the subsea industry has already entered the offshore renewables sector and is exploiting its vast opportunities with the ability to transfer its products, services and expertise from oil and gas into offshore renewables, The Journal writes.

Knowledge and experience from the oil and gas industry provides the ideal environment in which an effective and collaborative supply chain for the offshore wind industry can be created.

66kV Offshore Wind 2015

The only networking event on 66kV array grids.

66kV Offshore Wind is a technical event for experts in the wind industry. The goal is to provide a clear path to commercial implementation of 66kV array grids. By exploring developer requirements, WTG capabilities and equipment certification, we hope to reduce both uncertainty and time to implementation for 66kV offshore wind.

The conference aims to:

  • Evaluate project requirements to select 66kV inter-arrays
  • Explore turbine requirements for use in 66kV systems
  • Review certification procedures for higher voltage equipment
  • Evaluate the technology and cost impacts on transformers, cables and switchgears
  • Understand the need for reactive power compensation in offshore substations
