Subsea Global Solutions (SGS) has been named exclusive U.S.-based service agent for Lagersmit, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of sealing solutions.
Under the agreement, SGS will provide service, installation and repair services to Lagersmit customers in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
“SGS was the obvious choice to be our service agent in the region because it has professionally trained divers and technicians to carry out repairs previously possible only out of the water,” said Chiel Michel, service manager at Lagersmit. “The SGS team provides rapid response to ship owners without interference with the vessel’s schedule. As our agent, they will be called upon for bonding new seal rings, removing or installing spacer rings, and even performing complete replacements at anchor or during cargo handling operations. SGS represents our ‘Peace of Mind’ strategy for our customers in the region.”
“The addition of the Lagersmit service agency should complement SGS’s already expansive underwater ship repair service portfolio. SGS will now be able to execute dry repairs to Lagersmit sealing systems in the dry dock or in industrial industries. This complements SGS’s already existing underwater shaft seal repair program,” the company said.
