New Subsea Cable to Connect Spain and Brazil

The Spanish and the Brazilian governments have agreed to install subsea cable between the two countries.

The EllaLink subsea cable will connect Madrid and Sao Paulo, as well as Lisbon, Reuters reported.

Furthermore, the cable will connect the archipelagos of Madeira, Spain’s Canary Islands and Africa’s Cape Verde.

According to Spanish government official the cable will improve data security by routing communications outside the United States.

The EllaLink cable will be 9,200 km long and will have a capacity of 72-terabytes-per-second.

The cable is planned to be operational in 2019.
