Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products have been chosen as the supplier of the cable sheaves to IHC Engineering Business, for the tower on the Saipem J-LAY vessel.

Quadrant’s engineers have worked closely with EB’s design team, producing detailed calculations to prove the sheaves’ capabilities in a very demanding application. Full DNV approval was obtained for the sheaves. Quadrant’s Monocast cable sheaves are being used extensively on offshore equipment due to their reduced weight, corrosion resistance and kindness to wire ropes, leading to longer rope life. Sheaves, rings and discs up to 3 metres in diameter can be produced as one piece castings, while larger diameters can be provided in segmented form.

Quadrant also produces track plates for ROVs, scoring two firsts in 2008 with the manufacture and supply of 2000mm-plus plates for the world’s two largest Rock Trenchers on two separate contracts.
