Sercel Wins Contract to Equip 3D Seismic Vessel with Nautilus® and Sentinel® Systems (France)

Sercel has been awarded a contract by Dolphin Geophysical for the purchase of Nautilus® and Sentinel® systems to equip its first high-capacity 3D seismic vessel, Polar Duke.

The three-in-one Nautilus device offers acoustic positioning, depth control and automatic steering in a single unit. The Sentinel solid streamer, which powers Nautilus, delivers reduced tow noise and outstanding improvements in signal-tonoise ratio. The combination of Nautilus and Sentinel makes the Sercel solution the quietest steered streamer available today.

Bjarne Stavenes, Technical Vice President, Dolphin Geophysical AS, said: “The decision to award the equipment contract to Sercel will enable Dolphin Geophysical to provide our customers with the best-quality data available today. Being equipped with Sentinel low-noise streamers, Seal 428 continuous recording and the Nautilus fully integrated steering, depth and positioning capability will position Polar Duke as one of the most advanced high-end, high-capacity vessels in the industry. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Sercel working together to develop technologies for the future.”

Pascal Rouiller, CEO, Sercel, said: “We are pleased to have been selected by Dolphin Geophysical for the supply of the industry’s best marine seismic acquisition package on such a significant project. With over 50 seismic vessels currently equipped with the latest Sercel marine acquisition technology, the Seal 428 new-generation marine seismic recorder along with Nautilus coupled with Sentinel is proving to be the system of choice for high-capacity 3D seismic vessels.”
