The system owner is KEPCO (Korean Electric Corporation) and the 2 segments are to be laid as part of the Jeju to Jindo cable system network.

SBSS engineering team also fitted 3 cable engines, a 3 to 1 converging trackway system and an automated bundling system onboard the vessel to meet the customer’s requirements for this project. An experienced deck team was also in place to efficiently install UP Pipe cable protection for the bundled cables for added cable protection.

The work in South Korea was met with challenging weather conditions down to -18 degrees Celsius with 6knots of currents and a very tight weather window. The powerful dynamic positioning system onboard the Bold Maverick and the experienced crew met up with the challenge of maintain an accurate course of the cable route.

The overall result is a challenging marine project being implemented and executed in record time while meeting the demanding expectations of the customer (LSCS) and system owner (KEPCO) .

Mr. K.Y.
