Inaugural Oceanology International China 2013 Receives Strong Support

The inaugural Oceanology International China 2013, the only event for marine science and ocean technology in the Asian region, being held at INTEX in Shanghai on 3 – 5 September 2013, is benefiting from strong support across the board from official organisations, exhibitors and the organisers of international group pavilions.

“We are delighted to be able to announce that seven months before the show opens, 77% of the exhibition has been sold to exhibitors from 14 countries, including influential companies such as Reson, Sonardyne, Kongsberg Maritime and Teledyne, with country pavilions confirmed from Atlantic Canada, Korea, UK (organised by the Society of Maritime Industries) and USA,” explains Exhibition Director, James Coleman of Reed Exhibitions Ltd.

“What is also highly rewarding is the strong support we are getting from the Chinese Society of Oceanography (CSO) whose Ocean Technology Observation branch is co-event manager working alongside the Reed Exhibitions team in China.”

A spokesman for the CSO explains: “The Chinese Society for Oceanography (CSO) is very pleased to be the Co-Event Manager of Oceanology International China this September. China has ambitious goals for the development of a national ‘Blue Economy’ and, as the only event that connects our demand for marine science and technologies with the world’s manufacturers and service providers, Oceanology International offers us an ideal platform to help us realise these goals.”

The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT), with its long and unbroken history of involvement with the Oceanology International series of events, is the Learned Society Patron of Oceanology International China. “With the SUT now firmly established in China with a very active branch, it is very much to be welcomed that Oceanology International will now also take place in Shanghai,” says Ian Gallett, SUT’s Business Development Executive. “The SUT has been involved with Oceanology International, the premier show of its kind in the world, since 1970 and is very pleased to see it grow from strength to strength in the UK, and now open in China.

“China is developing as a very strong market place for subsea equipment, as well as developing its own industry, and it very timely for Oceanology International to open in the country, and it is to be hoped that the show will develop into a major force in the region.”

Added support

Both UK Trade & Investment and their service delivery partner, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), are also supporting Oceanology International China 2013.

UK Trade and Investment, together with CBBC, offers a wide range of services that can help businesses succeed in China. Whether that business needs market research, product promotion or just making sure it meets the right person in the right organisation, their combined workforce of over 100 staff at 12 locations throughout China can provide the tools needed.

CBBC is the leading organisation helping UK companies grow and develop their business with China. They help companies of all sizes and sectors, whether new entrants or established operations. CBBC has worked with China for 60 years, and their team has extensive experience of doing business there. “All the correct building blocks are in place to ensure the success of Oceanology International China 2013, we are extremely gratified by the support of these key organisations, and also the exhibiting organisations who will be joining us in China in September,” says James Coleman. “We are looking forward to a great first event.”
