Cortez Subsea Strengthens Team

Subsea services and technology products company Cortez Subsea has bolstered its staff numbers with two new appointments set to take the Aberdeen-based company forward and reach an employee roster of 40 by the end of this year.

Carol-ann Mackay and Phil LoCastro join the Aberdeen-based company which moved into new larger premises at the Bridge of Don earlier this year to support the growing numbers of employees.

Ms Mackay joins as sales and logistics engineer working with Cortez Subsea’s technological products including the modular pipelay system with Zap-Lok technology, rigid and flexible pipeline installation solutions, ROV tooling, subsea intervention and inspection products.

Mr LoCastro joins as subsea inspection manager and will be delivering subsea pipeline and platform inspection data acquisition services, processing and management services, GIS data management, and drilling data management services. He will be promoting the MCS Structure Commander and Pipeline Commander software. Both these services offer the Offshore Automated System and Video Broadcasting Application technologies.

Managing director Alasdair Cowie said: “Our plan is to have 40 people working for us by the end of this year, that’s double what we started with in January. With the appointments of Carole-ann and Phil, the company is in its strongest ever position. We can now get the ball rolling with a team already full of energy, fresh ideas and drive.

Cortez Subsea specialises in the four areas of installation, intervention, inspection and decommissioning in the UK and international offshore energy industry.

The company currently works in collaboration with FlexTech Engineering, DeepTech Oil Services, Offshore Technology Solution Ltd, and MCS to provide a broad range of specialties to its clients.

Mr Cowie added: “This is a very exciting stage in our development as we move forward not only with some of the most state-of-the-art products and services available on the market but also with the best people paving the way breaking new ground for our customers and business.
