Trelleborg Showcases Subsea Solutions at Underwater Intervention 2014

Trelleborg’s offshore operation will showcase its comprehensive range of high performance solutions at the 22nd annual Underwater Intervention Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Located on stand 816, the company will present visitors with its portfolio of subsea innovations, including its pioneering high performance hollow glass microspheres, Eccospheres®. Trelleborg’s Eccofloat® syntactic foam used in ROV buoyancy, will take center stage.

Furthermore, delegates will get the opportunity to hear from Trelleborg expert, Bob Kelly, as he takes to the stage to give an in-depth and informative presentation on syntactic foam, entitled ‘Modern buoyancy foam for underwater vehicles’. Managing Director within Trelleborg Offshore and Construction in Boston, Kelly, will present the philosophy of selection, development and qualification of syntactic foam buoyancy structures for subsea vehicles.

Kelly commented: “I am excited to be speaking at this important industry event and look forward to discussing new developments in manufacturing and testing of syntactic foam buoyancy with conference attendees. Taking centre stage will be Eccofloat® syntactic foam, which is composed using epoxy resin, mixed with the company’s Eccospheres® for undersea buoyancy applications. Trelleborg is an industry leader in syntactic foams used to prepare large buoyancy modules, which can be readily shaped to conform to hull contours, and outfitted for installation in the forward and aft free-flood areas of submarines. Oceanographers also use Eccofloat® to suspend instrumentation in deep ocean studies.

Trelleborg’s Eccospheres® will also be presented. The hollow thin-walled glass microspheres are developed by the company to meet the demanding strength, weight and electrical specifications of its clients in the electronics, aerospace and industrial markets. To the naked eye they resemble a fine, white, free-flowing powder, however magnification reveals them to be near perfect spheres. They are designed to help reduce costs, enhance specific properties and improve material processing.

Also showcased on the stand will be Trelleborg’s popular Nano buoys, micro buoys and Linksyn and Trimsyn products.
