Ceona to Deploy Normand Pacific on Umbilical Project in Gulf of Mexico

Ceona, SURF contractor with heavy subsea construction capabilities, has been awarded a contract for work in the Gulf of Mexico from Bennu Oil and Gas, LLC.

The Clipper Contingency Umbilical Installation Project consists of the installation of a 1.1 mile dynamic umbilical and two 15 mile electrical quad cables in over 3,000ft water depth.

Project management and engineering work will be performed from Ceona’s offices in Houston, Texas. Offshore works are planned to commence in May 2014 using the Normand Pacific. The vessel has recently been chartered by Ceona and, once delivered in April 2014, it will be fitted with a 75 tonne vertical lay tower and two new high specification work class ROVs for deepwater flexible installation and subsea construction.

Janelle Pence, VP Commercial Americas, commented: “We are delighted to have secured this installation project for the Gulf of Mexico from Bennu Oil & Gas. Our Houston-based project team is eager to establish a local track record for safe and successful project execution with the Normand Pacific.

Mark Preece, Executive VP Commercial and Business Development at Ceona, commented: “The Gulf of Mexico is a significant market for Ceona, and crucial to our growth strategy, so this is an important contract for us and we look forward to working closely with Bennu on the project.
