Death Toll in Ferry Accident Rises as Recovery Operations Continue

The death toll in a South Korean ferry accident rose to 64, according to the latest reports.

As CNN informed around 238 people are still missing. The divers are trying to recover the bodies of the missing people left on board.

Several bodies were recovered on Sunday by police boats, and 35 aircraft and 214 ships aided in the search operations.

As the media reports show the Sewol ‘s captain Lee Joon Seok was arrested and has been charged with abandoning his boat, negligence, causing bodily injury, not seeking rescue from other ships and violating “seamen’s law”.

The captain wasn’t at the helm of the ship when it started sinking on Wednesday.

He will be facing the penalty from five years to life in prison.

The Sewol ferry was en route from Incehon to the island of Jeju when it started sinking with over 400 people on board.

The ferry completely sank on Friday.
