Port of Abbot Point’s Hydrographic Survey Starts on Saturday

North Queensland Bulk Ports has announced that the Port of Abbot Point’s annual hydrographic survey is scheduled to start this Saturday, May 24, 2014.

The survey will last for four days and will end on Wednesday, May 28. The hydrographic survey will be performed by Queensland Government’s hydrographic survey vessel ‘Norfolk’ and will include Port of Abbot area and surrounding waters.

These routine annual surveys are required by Maritime Safety Queensland and they’re to be performed at all ports to ensure that shipping channels, swing basins and berths are safe for shipping with appropriate depths for keel clearances.
