The naming ceremony for the new vessel, Island Performer, was held in Ulsteinvik, Norway on June 27. During the event, about 200 guests including executives from FTO Services, Edison Chouest Offshore and FMC Technologies sailed on a five hour maiden voyage to celebrate the naming of the vessel.

In the fourth quarter of 2014, FTO Services will begin a 5 year lease of Island Performer from vessel owner, Island Offshore. The vessel will be integrated with FMC Technologies’ new deepwater Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI) stack, and will be capable of carrying out well interventions at depths of up to 6,500 feet (2,000 meters).

The Island Performer is 427 feet (130 meters) long with an Ulstein X-bow design, and is outfitted specifically for deepwater well intervention and construction, with a modular handling tower and a 250 ton active heave compensated crane.
