Atlantis Signs Turbine Supply Agreements for MeyGen Project

Atlantis, owner of the world’s largest planned tidal current energy project, MeyGen, and tidal energy equipment supplier, announces that it has signed a turbine supply agreement with Andritz Hydro Hammerfest to supply three 1.5 megawatt tidal power turbines for Phase 1A of the MeyGen project in the Pentland Firth in Scotland.

Atlantis also announces that it has signed a turbine supply agreement to supply one of its own 1.5MW tidal power turbines for Phase 1A of the MeyGen project. Contract commencement is contingent on achieving financial close.

Atlantis continues to work closely with all relevant financing and contracting parties to reach financial close for Phase 1A of MeyGen.

MeyGen has an overall goal to deliver a fully operational renewable energy plant of almost 400MW powered purely by the tide, generating the equivalent electricity to power 400,000 Scottish homes.

The first phase of the project is scheduled for installation during 2015.
