Helmholtz Alliance ‘ROBEX’ Partners with Airbus DS Bremen

Bringing together space and deep sea research is the goal of the Helmholtz Alliance “ROBEX - Robotic Exploration of Extreme Environments”, which is coordinated at the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).

Since yesterday Airbus DS Bremen is associated partner of ROBEX and provides its expertise in space robotics into the alliance.

From now on, not only space robots but also technologies for deep-sea crawler and –glider will be developed and tested in Airbus’s robotic laboratory in Bremen in the future.

During the ceremonial opening of the robotics laboratory AWI director Prof. Karin Lochte and Bart Reijnen, head of Airbus DS site Bremen, signed an according association agreement yesterday.
