BG Group has delivered first gas from its Starfish field in the East Coast Marine Area of Trinidad with the start-up of the first well in the programme.

BG believes, this production will ensure a reliable flow of gas to the domestic market and to the Atlantic LNG export facility, a key source for the company’s global LNG business.

Garvin Goddard, President of BG Trinidad & Tobago, commented: “With Starfish coming on stream in our 25th year of operating in the country, this is a great demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the safe and responsible development of natural gas resources. Starfish also shows our capability to deliver complex offshore projects. We look forward to our next period of growth and continuing our contribution to the economy of the country.”

Located around 50 miles offshore, the field is connected to the 3,000 ton Dolphin platform. The Starfish project was sanctioned in 2012 and has involved ongoing collaboration with local and international contractors. BG Group operates the East Coast Marine Area with a 50% equity interest.
