VIDEO VBMS Burial Sledge System II

VBMS has developed a burial tool BSS-II. The BSS-II consists of a towed sledge vehicle with a telescopic adjustable jetting lance.

The BSS-II is designed for simultaneous laying and burial operations and is capable of installing flexible products, like cables, umbilicals, flexible pipe lines, ranging from 0 to 6 meters depth.

The tool is based on the principle of fluidising the soil in front of the lance in combination with a depressor, ensuring correct installation depth of the product.

According to the company, weather and wave conditions have minimal influence on the actual installation process as the tool is positioned stable on the seabed, independently of movements of the lay vessel.

A dedicated launch and recovery frame (LARS) has also been designed to efficiently deploy and recover the BSS-II at sea.
