EMO Marine’s Mini-T HD Mux for Schmidt Ocean’s ROV

EMO Marine Technologies Ltd., based in Nova Scotia, has successfully delivered a Mini-T High Definition Mux system upgrade for a Schmidt Ocean Institute ROV.

The system utilizes EMO Marine’s factor multiplexer (MUX) system the Mini-T. The ROV upgrade now provides a fiber-optic MUX system that can transmit two Full HD and various serial channels simultaneously over a single fiber optic link.

The Mux system is comprised of a subsea titanium housing rated for 6000M depth and complimented with a 19” 1U Euro-rack enclosure at the surface, the company informed.

The Mini-T HD Mux was used during Schmidt Ocean Institute’s ‘Perth Canyon: First Deep Exploration off the coast of Western Australia’.

From March 1st to March 12th 2015 the expedition surveyed life in the canyon, conducted baseline studies, and allowed researchers a chance to collect data in this location.
