Wello Becomes Member of Ocean Energy Europe

Ocean Energy Europe has welcomed the Finnish company Wello as its newest member.

Wello’s wave energy converter, Penguin, converts waves to electricity with continuous rotational movement.

The 1MW Penguin wave energy converter has been undergoing testing at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney since June 2011.

The company recently announced an extension to its testing programme at EMEC, having signed a one year extension to their original contract.

The company is also involved in plans for a 3MW project at Wave Hub in the south of England.
