Jee Ltd. has been awarded a contract from Amec Foster Wheeler for the front end engineering design (FEED) of a jacket rigid polymer injection riser package (including J-tubes) as part of the Captain enhanced oil recovery (EOR) field development.

The project will demonstrate the use of polymer chemical injection technology to maximise the economic recovery of UK hydrocarbon reserves.

In 2014, Amec Foster Wheeler secured a contract from Chevron UK for the facilities engineering of the proposed bridge-linked platform (BLP), which will be utilised to store, mix and pump polymer. This company will also be responsible for the BLP brownfield tie-ins to the existing facilities.

In 2015, Jee’s engineers will support the first phase of the project by conducting the FEED for the polymer riser injection package as part of the entire EOR field development programme.

The EOR project will utilise different technologies including 4-D seismic imaging, horizontal drilling and pump technology. Development drilling is expected to take place from 2015 until 2020.

The Captain EOR project is the fourth phase of development of the Chevron-operated Captain Field, which is located approximately 68 miles offshore north of Aberdeen.
