Sonardyne International has become the newest associate member of the National Oceanography Centre’s (NOC) Marine Robotics Innovation Centre.

Sonardyne and NOC have worked together on various projects, with the latest one, funded by Innovate UK, currently underway.

Adam Schink, Marine Robotics Innovation Centre manager at the NOC said, “Our relationship with Sonardyne is a proven example of UK industry and the public sector working together to generate mutually beneficial returns. The current Innovate UK funded project to develop an autonomous surface/ sub-surface survey system, is an exciting opportunity to create a low-cost and long-term integrated shore-based method of surveying with a range of commercial and science applications.”

Dr Graham Brown, Divisional Director Oil and Gas at Sonardyne added, “Joining NOC’s Marine Robotics Innovation Centre is a natural move for us considering our strong track record in underwater positioning, communications and custom engineering. Our ability to help find answers to ocean science’s most challenging questions, underpins our relationship with many of the world’s leading marine institutes, but we are particularly happy to be working with the NOC in advancing the UK’s capabilities in future marine robotic systems.”
