Minesto Hires Doosan Babcock for Deep Green Testing

Minesto, a marine energy technology developer, has contracted Doosan Babcock to carry out fatigue testing of their Deep Green technology.

Testing will be carried out on two wing sections at the Renfrew Test Facility.

The project will run for around two months and will include accelerated life testing on the composite wing section, simulating real ocean conditions.

The project supports the commissioning of the first commercial-scale Deep Green 0.5MW power plant, which Minesto plans to install in Holyhead Deep, Wales.

The plant will feature a single Deep Green tidal device that produces power when the water current creates a hydrodynamic lift force on the wing which pushes the kite forward.

It will also include a seabed foundation and a buoy moored at surface.
