Repsol Files Rev Pipeline and Umbilical Decom Plan

Repsol has submitted an application to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for the removal of Rev export pipeline and umbilical located on UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

The Rev field, consisting of Rev West and Rev East, is located in the Block 15/12 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), while the export pipeline and umbilical cross over into the UKCS and connect to Chrysaor’s Armada installation.

According to Repsol, the application is for a three year decommissioning project planned to begin in 2020 or earlier.

The Rev field started production in 2009 but production has decreased to the extent that the field now only produces intermittently. Based on the periodic nature of production, Repsol plans to cease production from the field until March 2020 at the latest.

The decommissioning programme will include approximately 4.8 km of 12-inch gas condensate pipeline from the UK median line to the flange at the Rev subsea isolation valve (SSIV), and approximately 4.9 km of the Rev umbilical from the UK median line to the point at which it joins the junction box close to Armada platform.

Following the completion of the programme, Repsol plans to carry out two post decommissioning surveys. These surveys will be of the pipeline left in situ plus environmental survey.

The environmental data will be collected and analysed and the results compared to the environmental baseline data.

Furthermore, Repsol will provide a report to BEIS within 4 months of the completion of the onshore disposal explaining any variations from the decommissioning programme including debris removal and independent verification of seabed clearance and finalizing of the onshore work related to recycling and disposal of all materials removed the seabed.
