STL Xtreme Release Connector Obtains Norwegian Patent

Aberdeen-based subsea technology specialist STL (Subsea Technologies Limited) has been awarded a Norwegian patent for its Xtreme Release Connector product.

According to the company, its high-angle release connector enhances safety and reduces environmental risks, while saving time and money by increasing a vessel’s operating window.

The product also allows the vessel’s crew enough time to respond to challenging scenarios without the risk of getting stuck to the wellhead or damaging the connector if the crew do not react fast enough, STL explained.

Drummond Lawson, STL managing director, said: “The award of the Norwegian patent for our Xtreme Release Connector adds to our growing number of patents and is a true testament to the team’s dedication and focus on quality and integrity in bringing this advanced technology to the global subsea market.

“This position will further assure clients of our credibility and the value that we can add to their operations.

“It also reinforces trust in our continued ability to design and develop products for both common and tailored applications across the subsea sector.

“Our drive for innovation has seen the development of some of the world’s first purpose-built subsea well intervention technologies — the Xtreme Release (XR) Connector is one, and our Multi-Functional Stackable Lightweight Intervention Connector (SLIC) is another.”
