C-Odyssey Wraps Up Concrete Mattress Installation Project

Leask Marine’s C-Odyssey vessel has provided marine services for Scottish and Southern Electricity’s three new cable replacement projects between the islands of Yell and Unst.

The vessel was contracted by Global Marine for the work.

Leask Marine was contracted for installation of concrete mattresses to protect the replacement cables where the cables cross existing subsea assets.

Within the tidal flow each mattress was required to be placed with pin-point accuracy to ensure that the obligatory offset off each side of the cable and the maximum acceptable offset between each mattress, the company explained.

The mattresses were loaded onto the vessel and installed subsea with a specialized lifting frame.
