Russia, Novacavi Delivers Buoyant Cable to

Following inside research and development, Italy-based special cable manufacturer Novacavi, reports its first delivery of a special hybrid neutrally buoyant cable with flexible subsea CAT 6 conductors to Russia.

Novacavi was called in to provide its expertise in designing and manufacturing bespoke cables by its customer, a Russian leader in concept and production of diving and subsea equipment for commercial, military and search and rescue operation.

The design challenge was to manage the achievement of a mechanically hybrid flexible neutrally buoyant cable while guaranteeing standard data transmission characteristics behavior required by the customer’s subsea equipment. This customized cable has to carry data faster and further without damage to the signal from interference on a longer distance than before while remaining resilient, flexible and neutrally buoyant.

“Combining optimum performance and such mechanical characteristics was not a trivial technical matter, but our solid experience enabled us to design and provide an unconventional product solution using new processing methods and new materials”, says the company.

Initially designed for long distance data transmission from a specific ROV to its operator station, this cable is extremely versatile for many other applications.

As industry evolves, Novacavi continues to demonstrate its support to the increasingly demanding customers’ requirements by developing new technologies, and by providing products and service that offer genuine value to its customers worldwide.

Established in 1975 as a privately owned company, Novacavi designs and manufactures bespoke special cables even when small quantities are needed in a variety of applications.
