Osiris Projects Completes Geophysical and Geotechnical Programme for TenneT in German Bight

Osiris Projects have successfully completed a full geophysical and geotechnical programme in the German Bight for regular clients TenneT Offshore GmbH.

The original scope of the project involved 66 vibrocore and CPT stations and more than 700 survey line km. On completion of the work, ahead of schedule, Osiris Projects were asked to acquire additional geotechnical samples on an adjacent site.

Osiris Projects achieved better than expected results for the known complex geology, and were successful in sampling 14 vibrocore and 21 CPT stations, to a depth of 6m in some areas. Although adverse weather was encountered, this high priority project with additional work scope was completed ahead of the original project deadline.

The company utilised one of their regular charter vessels ‘MV Neptune’ to fulfil the contract; a 50m multi-role DP1 survey vessel designed to accommodate a full simultaneous geophysical, geotechnical and ROV spread. Built in 1977, Neptune has undergone numerous alterations, the most significant in 2008 when she was completely refurbished by Icelandic owner ‘Neptune EHF’. The vessel provides ample deck space and can accommodate up to 35 personnel with a duration in excess of 30 days. The recent upgrade from a 4T to 10T A-Frame further enhances the vessel’s geotechnical capabilities.

Osiris Projects’ geotechnical expertise has recently been strengthened by the appointment of Stuart Tate to Geotechnical Engineering Manager. Stuart has almost 20 years’ experience in the industry, and will work to develop the department to further complement the company’s core capability of hydrography and marine geophysics.
