Ocean Rig Expands Fleet with New Drillship1

Ocean Rig UDW Inc., a global provider of offshore deepwater drilling services, announced yesterday that it had took delivery of its newbuilding drillship, the Ocean Rig Skyros, on Friday, December 20, 2013.

The drillship, built by Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard in South Korea, is currently mobilizing to offshore Angola to commence drilling operations with Total.

The rig is designed for drilling operations intended for water depths ranging from 500 meters to 3650 meters.

Ocean Rig Ocean Rig owns and operates 11 offshore ultra deepwater drilling units, comprising of 2 ultra deepwater semisubmersible drilling rigs and 9 ultra deepwater drillships, 1 of which is scheduled to be delivered to the company during 2014 and 2 of which are scheduled to be delivered during 2015.
