CNOOC Hits Gas in Bohai Bay

CNOOC Limited, China’s producer of offshore crude oil and natural gas, has made a mid-sized natural gas discovery Bozhong 22-1 in Bohai Bay.

Bozhong 22-1 structure is located in the south central Bohai Bay with an average water depth of about 25 meters. The discovery well Bozhong 22-1-2 is drilled and completed at a depth of 4,611 meters and encountered gas reservoir with a total thickness of about 92 meters.

The gas production of the well was tested around 14.2 million cubic feet per day. The discovery of Bozhong 22-1 demonstrates the good prospects of buried hills for future gas exploration of south slope in Bozhong Sag.
