PSA Audits Marathon's FPSO 'Alvheim' for Barrier Management

Between 4 and 18 March 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway carried out an audit of Marathon’s follow-up of technical and operational barriers for the Alvheim FPSO vessel.

The objective of the activity was to assess whether Alvheim is being operated in accordance with the regulations, with a special emphasis on technical and operational barriers.

Non-conformities were identified in connection with:

- Barrier management system,

- The process safety system,

- Passive fire protection,

- Risk analysis.

In addition, improvements points were identified in connection with the emergency shutdown system and fire protection of pipelines and equipment.
