Specialist Subsea Services Names New Sales Manager

Specialist Subsea Services (S3) has appointed a new sales manager to its team.

The Aberdeen-based provider of ROVs and survey services has welcomed Jock Nicol to the role. He will be responsible for driving forward the company’s sales strategy as it looks to capitalise on new opportunities within the subsea sector throughout the months ahead, S3 said in a press release.

Jock brings with him extensive experience of the subsea industry, having worked in a variety of roles within the sector for over 44 years. Initially beginning his career as a clearance diver in the Royal Navy, Jock worked for 20 years in commercial diving before retraining as an engineer.

In the years that followed, his various roles concentrated on the build of both ROVs and tooling systems before leading the sales and marketing functions of a number of the industry’s service providers, including Kvaerner and Fugro Subsea Services. Most recently he was group sales manager at Hallin Marine.

His appointment follows S3’s recent three year charter, worth in excess of £7million per annum, with EDT Offshore for the EDT Hercules vessel in a deal that will allow the company to provide its full scope of ROV, survey and life of field services from the vessel. The company has also acquired two new Schilling-HD ROVs, bringing the total number of work class ROVs within S3’s fleet to six.

Graeme Kidd, managing director of S3, said: “Jock has already proved in the short time he has been with us that he will be a great asset to the team moving forward and I’m delighted to welcome him to Specialist Subsea Services.

“Jock’s experience of the sector, along with his vast knowledge of sales and marketing will be vital as we look to capitalise on new opportunities within the industry throughout the months ahead.”

Jock Nicol, sales manager at S3, added: “I really am thrilled to be joining S3 and I am looking forward to being a part of what is an extremely focused and experienced team.

“It’s my aim to ensure that S3’s current and prospective clients are kept abreast with the latest additions and enhancements to the company’s service offering. It’s essential that we maintain the high standard already set in meeting client requirements and I look forward to helping add to the company’s growing list of customers.”
