Searcher, MAGE in Echidna Seismic Survey

Searcher Seismic in cooperation with MAGE, announced the start of acquisition of the Echidna Regional Broadband 2D seismic survey.

Comprising of approximately 9,000 km of high quality, long-offset broadband 2D seismic data, the Echidna survey will be the first comprehensive well-tie survey covering the Atlantic Margin off western Ireland, Searcher said in a press release.

Jan Gunnar Opsal, Norway Country Manager for Searcher Seismic, said the survey includes well-ties to over 30 exploration wells and recent drilling results have indicated considerable oil potential in the area.

“The rift systems associated with these basins are among the most interesting exploration targets in the North Atlantic and we are confident the Echidna survey will provide a solid foundation for evaluation of the area,” Opsal added.

Fast track PSTM data of selected priority lines will be available in time for evaluation of the upcoming bid round in Ireland.
