Shanghai Shipyard to Build Two Survey Vessels

Shanghai Shipyard has secured new deals to build two multipurpose survey vessels for two Chinese geological survey institutes.

The affiliate of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), will construct one ship for the Qingdao Marine Geological Survey Institute and the other for Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey Institute (GMGS).

The company did not disclose a potential value of the contract.

According to CSSC, the bids were won after a tough competition with more than 10 shipyards placing bids, including Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry and Cosco Shipyard.

There was no further information regarding the scheduled delivery of the newbuilds.
