JDR has won a subcontract from Siem Offshore Contractors (SOC) to supply submarine composite power cables and related accessories as well as termination and testing services for the Veja Mate offshore wind farm.
The 67x 6 MW Siemens-supplied Wind Turbine Generators will be interconnected by an inner array grid of JDR-designed and manufactured 33 kV medium voltage alternating current (MVAC) submarine composite cables with a total length of up to 97 km.
JDR will also deliver hang-offs, connectors and a range of other cable accessories. Additionally, JDR will be providing topside termination and testing services through their Global Services division.
The full scope of the award will be manufactured and deployed from JDR’s Hartlepool facility.
David Currie, CEO, JDR, says: “This is an exciting win for JDR. We are proud to be working with Siem Offshore Contractors on this prestigious project and are delighted to continue our relationship within the German wind-farm industry.”
Lars Muck, Managing Director, SOC, adds: “We are delighted to cooperate with JDR on this technically challenging offshore wind farm project, whereby especially JDR’s clear commitment towards “zero cable failures” and the assurance to support the SOC project team have played an important role in favour of JDR.”
