JDR in Cable Showcase at Wind Energy Hamburg

JDR will showcase its industry leading inter-array cable designs, cable accessories and post-delivery offshore services at Wind Energy Hamburg.

JDR’s engineering team has led the development of inter-array cables for offshore wind operators across a range of important projects including the Meerwind Sud/Ost farm in Northern Germany and the world’s two largest offshore wind farms, Greater Gabbard and London Array in the UK. Most recently JDR has announced a supply contract with Siem Offshore Contractors GmbH for the Nordsee One offshore wind farm and with VBMS for the Statoil/Statkraft Dudgeon offshore wind farm.

At Wind Energy Hamburg JDR will introduce its latest inter-array cable technology, including new aluminium and copper core inter-array cable products. The new aluminium conductor core inter-array cable, which is XLPE insulated and type tested to IEC 60502-2 and CIGRE standards, is one of several JDR developments targeted to support offshore wind cost-reduction targets.

Andrew Norman, JDR’s chief executive officer, commented: “Germany is embracing the offshore wind opportunity and JDR is delighted to support these developments with our growing range of inter-array cable products and services. We have led the development of inter-array cable design and manufacture and are committed to working with developers, installers and throughout the supply chain to create the products and services our industry needs to deliver effective and efficient renewable energy.

“Our latest developments in aluminium conductor core products and our work on high voltage 66kV inter-array cables, are important steps forwards in providing the tools and choices our industry needs to enable the long-term development of successful wind farm projects. Looking further ahead, we continue to investigate how we can apply our experience in oil and gas markets for renewable energy projects.”
