Marin Teknikk has entered into a contract with Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group for delivery of design & engineering of two diving & construction vessels for Ultra Deep Offshore in Singapore.

The vessels are a newly developed MT6023 DSCV design, and will be equipped with an 18-men diving system for operations down to 300 meters water depth.

MT6023 DSCV is a diving and construction vessel. The vessel will have a length of 103 meters and a breadth of 23 meters, accommodation for 120 persons plus 18 divers, two heave compensated subsea cranes, one 150 ton offshore crane with depth capability to 3000 m water depth, and one 20 ton offshore crane for operation down to 300 m water depth. In addition, arrangement for 2 WROV’s (unmanned remote operated submarines/robots) for operation down to 3000 meters water depth.

The vessels are to be built by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group in China, where the first vessel is planned to be delivered in the second quarter of 2018 and vessel no. 2 at the end of 2018. Vessel no. 2 is to be finally confirmed by end of April 2016.

“We are very pleased to sign this contract, especially when we see the weak market within the Oil & Gas Industry” says Svein-Rune Gjerde in Marin Teknikk. “We have been working close with UDS the last 3 years to develop several advanced diving vessels. With this new contract shows again Marin Teknikk’s strong position in the OSV market and that we are among the world’s leading designers of advanced Diving & Construction vessels.”

Marine Teknikk said that this contract will secure work for 110 engineers in Norway and Poland for parts of 2016 and a bit into 2017.
