Saipem to Mobilize Drillship Off Portugal

Saipem has been awarded a contract by Eni Portugal for the utilization of the Saipem 12000, which will operate offshore Portugal.

Built in 2010 by Samsung Heavy Industries, Saipem 12000 is a sixth generation ultra-deepwater drilling ship capable of operating in water depths of up to approximately 3650 meters and drilling depth of some 10600 meters.

According to Italian contractor, the work is scheduled for execution during the third quarter of 2016.

To remind, prior to this contract win for the drillship, Total in Angola terminated its lease of the Saipem 12000 for convenience.

In addition to securing work for its drillship, Saipem won a contract extension with Eni Norge for the Scarabeo 8 drilling rig.
