Eni Restarts Goliat Flows
Eni Norge has resumed production on the Goliat field early Tuesday morning following a shutdown on August 26.
Full production is expected to be reached within short, with full reinjection of gas and produced water.
Production halt was caused by gas detection in an unwanted area, during a planned venting of gas, as part of a maintenance operation. This led to an automatic power shutdown to eliminate ignition sources. During the power shut down, non-essential crew was evacuated as per procedure due to limited power supply, the company said.
The field is supplied with hydro-generated electricity from the mainland by means of a subsea cable.
The incident was investigated internally and necessary organizational and technical improvement measures put in place.
The Goliat field is located in PL 229 in the south west Barents Sea, 80 km north-west of Hammerfest, Northern Norway.
Production at Goliat is facilitated using a subsea system consisting of twelve production wells, seven water injectors and three gas injectors. Eni is the operator of the field with 65 percent stake, while Statoil holds the remaining 35 percent.
