Galloper OWF Foundations Complete

The foundations installation for the Galloper offshore wind farm has been completed on Tuesday.

All 56 turbine foundations, which are made up of a steel monopiles and transition pieces, were installed ahead of schedule, Galloper Wind Farm Ltd informed.

The installation works of the foundations, each weighing about 1200 tonnes, have been carried out by GeoSea using their ‘Innovation’ jack-up installation vessel.

The monopiles and transition pieces were produced by Sif Group and Smulders.

The offshore team is now preparing to start turbine installation on the wind farm, which, once complete, will have the capacity to generate enough power for up to 336,000 homes when fully operational in the Spring of 2018.

Construction of Galloper is being led on behalf of the project partners by innogy SE. The project represents an investment potential of around £1.5 billion.
