Baltic Connector Oy and Elering AS have invited tenders to apply for the installation of the Balticconnector pipeline, a bi-directional natural gas pipeline to connect Finland and Estonia.

The scope of work includes management, engineering, construction of seabed intervention and offshore pipeline construction works and pre-commissioning.

The project scope is planned to start in February 2018, with the completion expected in November 2019.

When completed in 2020, the transmission capacity of the pipeline will be 7.2 million cubic meter (72 GWh) per day.

Baltic Connector Oy, a state-owned company set up in 2015 to implement the Finnish part of the Balticconnector pipeline, will be responsible for scheduling, design and overall management of the procurement procedure.

The deadline for the submission of tenders is May 29, 2017.

The Balticconnector will connect the gas networks of Finland and the Baltic countries and will enable the opening of the gas market in Finland.
