Eni has started gas production from the Jangkrik Development Project, offshore Indonesia.

Production from ten deepwater subsea wells, connected to the newly built Floating Production Unit (FPU) ‘Jangkrik’, will gradually reach 450 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d), equivalent to 83,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).

Oceaneering has been awarded a contract to provide services and products to support the design, fabrication and installation of ancillary flowline hardware for the Appomattox development in the Gulf of Mexico for Shell.

The scope of work for ancillary flowline hardware will include the procurement and installation of pre-lay and post-lay crossing mattresses, flowline jumper fabrication and installation, manifold installation, as well as the design, procurement, fabrication and installation of subsea buoyancy for flowline thermal expansion.

Siem Offshore’s chief executive officer Idar Hillersøy has for personal reasons tendered his resignation, the company said on Monday.

He will be replaced by Bernt Omdal, who is currently the head of chartering. Furthermore, Tore Lillestø has been appointed as chief operating officer of Siem Offshore Inc.

The US oilfield services major Halliburton elected Jeff Miller, the company’s president and a board member, to the position of president and CEO.

Dave Lesar, who has led Halliburton as chairman and CEO since 2000, will continue serving the company as executive chairman. The leadership changes are effective June 1, 2017.

Recently established Aberdeen-based subsea integrity consultancy, 1CSI (1 Consulting Subsea Integrity) has marked the launch of its business with a move into premises at the James Gregory Centre in the Aberdeen Innovation Park, Bridge of Don.

The company was established in April by Matthew Kennedy and Aleksandra Tomaszek and offers solutions to global subsea challenges.

The subsea industry has, as all other parts of the oil & gas industry, been seriously rattled by the most severe downturn in the hydrocarbon energy era. However, the realization of what hit us and actions to be taken to sustain a healthy and profitable future is still on-going – unfortunately with thousands of colleagues paying the price by losing their job as one of the most severe consequences. At this time, there are signs that we have reached bottom in terms of most industry indicators, but few experts expect a sharp recovery. Many seem to believe that a slow recovery is what the industry needs in order to avoid an unsustainable capacity build-up, as seen in the period after the financial crisis. Considering the uncertainty of what the future will bring, this year’s UTC Program Committee have decided to challenge all of us to present ideas, experiences, technological innovations, business models and execution models for how to shape our subsea future and explain how and why subsea is the future.
UTC welcomes abstracts based on the topics listed below. If selected, please consider writing a paper in addition to the UTC presentation. From 2017, UTC papers will be published in an international database.
