EC-OG Marks Commercial Launch of Subsea Power Hub

East Coast Oil and Gas Engineering (EC-OG) commercially launched the Subsea Power Hub at the Offshore Europe Conference and Exhibition in Aberdeen this week.

The Subsea Power Hub is an autonomous electrical power system which harnesses the energy within ocean currents to convert, store and deliver reliable electricity on demand.

The audience at the launch included industry representatives from oil and gas operators and a number of bodies such as Scottish Enterprise, the Oil and Gas Technology Centre, Subsea UK and the European Marine Energy Centre.

Paul Wheelhouse, Minister of Business, Innovation and Energy praised EC-OG for being a valuable member of the subsea business community, setting an example for great innovation in Scotland.

EC-OG has secured support from the Oil & Gas Technology Centre for technology FEED work that the company is undertaking for a North Sea field trial focusing on the in place Subsea Power Hub (SPH) design, optimized deployment procedure and de-risking the installation and operational phases.
