Fendercare Moors Japan’s JS KAGA

Fendercare Marine Asia Pacific has supplied docking support for the largest serving vessel of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), the JS KAGA.

The agreement included the supply of mooring equipment and fenders to the vessel while it was being hosted by the Singaporean Navy at Changi Naval Base.

The contract is the second that Fendercare Marine has completed for the JMSDF and was signed with the Navy’s husbandry partner in the region, Oxalis Shipping Singapore.

Fendercare Marine provided eight 2.5m x 5.5m fenders and two 3.3m x 6.5m fenders on short term hire to cover the 250m vessel’s week-long stay in Singapore.

Raymond Loh, assistant technical superintendent with Oxalis Shipping Singapore said:

“From confirmation of orders to delivery and return of fenders, all was well organised and the support agreement was completed without any problems. We are very pleased with the service provided by Fendercare Marine.”

Charmaine Wong Beardsworth at Fendercare Marine Asia Pacific said:

“We’re delighted that we’ve been approached for a second time to offer a short term equipment hire solution for the Japanese Navy.

“At up to 6.5m metres in length, this is sizable kit but as fender supply is one of our core services, we were able to offer the best price and source the equipment from stock immediately. Our team on site really went the extra mile during mobilisation and demobilisation, putting in lots of extra hours to get the kit ready within tight operating windows.”

All equipment was supplied direct to Oxalis Shipping Singapore from Fendercare regional base on the island – one of three across the Asia Pacific.
