NOFO preformed a series of tests to recreate a realistic environment of an oil spill situation in the Northern Sea. The vessels Normand Jarl were equipped with various systems that are helpful in a situation of ecological emergency given by the presence of oil over water’s surface. Consilium were involved in the exercise with the navigation radar equipped Oil Spill Detection (OSD) tool.

For Consilium the test was very successful and the system proved its capability of highlight oil stain inside sea clutter, thus confirming the usefulness of the oil spill detection radars during emergency.

The target for Consilium was to test the system’s behavior and to find what can be redesigned to improve system’s performances and ease of use. The radar sensor was consisting of 9ft horizontal polarization antenna, 25kW Up-Mast X-Band Transceiver. The bridge was installed with a Selux ST radar display console made up of 23” LCD TFT Monitor, multifunctional keyboard and advance OSD radar processor, used for video signal presentation and processing.
