Carnegie Provides Perth Project Offshore Construction and Pipeline Update

Carnegie Wave Energy Limited provides an update on the offshore construction activities associated with its Perth Wave Energy Project.

The Foundation installation vessel, the Eunsung 1200, is now sea fastened with all foundations and installation equipment on the vessel and is now ready to mobilise to the Perth Project site. Subject to weather, mobilisation to the CETO installation site offshore from Garden Island is expected in the coming days.

Additionally, Carnegie has awarded the pipeline installation contract to Total AMS Pty Ltd (TAMS) after a competitive tender process that compared cost, quality, schedule and health and safety. The contract awarded to TAMS includes the installation of a shore crossing conduit and the laying of approximately 6km of offshore pipelines. TAMS’ installation methodology is based on utilising the ASL96 Crane Barge, pictured below.

Grant McCleary, Managing Director of TAMS said, “TAMS has been working with Carnegie for a number of years on CETO and on this occasion the solution offered by TAMS leverages our previous experience working around Garden Island and undertaking similar activities on other projects. We look forward to commencing construction on this exciting project early in the New Year.”

As previously announced the supply of the pipe for the project was awarded to FlexSteel Pipeline Technologies, Inc. (FlexSteel), an experienced piping supplier for oil, gas and water applications in the energy industry. The piping has now shipped from Flexsteel’s manufacturing facility in Texas and is scheduled to arrive in Fremantle in January 2014.
