KONGSBERG Inaugurates New Office in Perth, Australia
KONGSBERG opens office in the Australian oil and gas capital Perth. The office will house KONGSBERG’s activities within maritime and oil & gas industry.
“We are already on location with 30 employees in Perth, mainly due to the acquisition of the subsea company Nemo in 2012 who already was established in Perth. We see a growing market potential for KONGSBERGs solutions in the entire region and our goal is to rapidly grow our business. We have strong and well-established customer relations, an excellent team and a large KONGSBERG-system backing the activities here. The new office therefore has capacity for growth,” Walter Qvam, CEO of KONGSBERG comments.
“We are co-locating maritime and oil and gas activities to exploit the synergies between our business areas,” Qvam adds.
Well positioned for Australian oil and gas fields
Pål Helsing, President of Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies, says KONGSBERG due to its technology offering is well positioned to increase market shares and grow in Australia. Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies deliver software solutions for optimizing oil and gas production and drilling operations. The company also delivers subsea products for transport and storage of produced oil and gas.
“We have a technology portfolio well positioned for the mature oil and gas fields in Australia. Our technology and solutions helps our customers get more out of every field and increase margins. Our solutions contribute to better utilization of existing installations and infrastructure and we have had good results in equivalent fields, for example in the North Sea,” Helsing says.
Fastest growing business area
Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies is KONGSBERGs fastest growing business area. Since the start-up in 2010 the business area reached revenues of over NOK 1 billion in 2013 – a growth of over 50 per cent from 2012. The acquisition and integration of Nemo and the software company Advali in 2012 has been a strong contributor to the growth.
“Australia is one of the most important locations for exploration and production in the region with strong growth projections. We already have established relations and contracts within both subsea products and drilling software in Australia. This is a region where we have good opportunities for growth,” Helsing comments.
