ICOL Invites Companies to Work on Inch Cape OWF

Inch Cape Offshore Limited (ICOL) has launched the Request for Proposals process for the Wind Farm and Transmission Works Packages of the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Project.

The Wind Farm package will involve the design, delivery and installation of the WTG Foundations and Substructures and Inter-array Cables along with installation of the Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs).

The Transmission Works package will involve the design, delivery and installation of the Offshore Substation Platform, Export Cables, Onshore Substation and Connection to Grid.

The Contracting Strategy for these packages will be collaborative in nature and will be based on:

- Selection of highly capable contractors based on an early engagement model;
- Integrated project management and design processes;
- Value management, with a focus on coherent management of risks across the project and the development of opportunities to enhance project value;
- Alignment of objectives and behaviours appropriate to each phase of the Project lifecycle with structured risk allocation and incentivization.

The companies/consortia that are invited to submit their proposals are: ABB, ALSTOM GRID, BOSKALIS, FERROVIAL – BALLAST NEDAM, GEOSEA, SEAWAY HEAVY LIFTING, SIEMENS T&D, MARUBENI – TECHNIP and VAN OORD.

You have to have the right relationships in place with capable companies to deliver large engineering projects in a challenging environment. This approach of working with Supply Partners is tried and tested in a wide range of industries and can reduce whole life costs, better manage risks and also enhance overall performance.”

The WTG Manufacturer, Wind Farm and Transmission Works Supply Partners will be appointed later in 2014.

Following this, regional supply chain events will be organised through 2015 by ICOL and their Supply Partners to further promote opportunities for engagement throughout the supply chain, with particular focus on specialist suppliers and SMEs. These events will be organised in conjunction with government and enterprise agencies to maximise participation.
