PSA Audits Statoil's Flexible Risers

The PSA has carried out an audit of Statoil in respect of technology follow-up, operational follow-up and condition monitoring of flexible risers.

This audit was based on incidents occurring with flexible risers, and on the fact that these types of incident have proven to be key contributors to major accident risk.

The audit was conducted in the form of a technical meeting at Statoil’s offices in Stjørdal on 16 October 2014.

No verifications were carried out and the result of the audit therefore consisted of a review of thematic elements based on the questions raised in the PSA’s notice of audit. Based on the information that emerged and the technical discussions in the meeting, the PSA identified a number of action points requiring further work and follow up by PSA.
